"Beautiful hotel, lovely staff.....but wouldn't book again"

The hotel is beautiful from the lobby to the pool area and common areas. Our room (a suite in the Tower) was very spacious and the view from our room was one of the best we've ever had at any hotel. We even woke up to the sea lions in the bay! However, we wouldn't book this hotel again. Although the staff were friendly, unfortunately the hotel feels understaffed and the facilities are really struggling to support the number of guests. Reception always had a line and the chairs in the lobby were always full with people waiting around. Parking is $50 per night but when we arrived back at the hotel at 9pm there was not one available parking space, making valet the only option. We called down to reception twice asking for an extra blanket and pillow and they never came. My son ended up sleeping under a coat and some extra clothes. The pool was an absolute zoo! Finding a chair was impossible. The hot tub was shoulder to shoulder kids. One of the other guests said it was because of Spring Break, but we stayed at another hotel in the area for the first part of the week and it was not overrun with guests like the Hyatt Regency was! If you're a couple (no kids) I would stay far away from this hotel! The hotel also charges you for pool towels not returned to the poolside bin (although I don't know how they actually enforce that). Even though we had a suite, with a table and chairs, living room area, and coffee bar, there was no microwave in the room which I found odd. We had to track down someone in the hall who brought one for us to use. There is a shuttle which we were excited about, but it was unreliable when it came to the timetable. Although the hotel is technically walkable to Belmont Park, it's a long walk along a busy road. There were just too many cons for me to recommend this hotel and/or stay there again and with the extra cost of parking and SO many people, it just didn't offer us the relaxing experience we were hoping for.

"Welcoming, warm staff make all the difference"

Hands down the best service we’ve received at a hotel. Oz helped my parents find the right rooms and Philip made sure we had everything we needed for the beach. The staff were all fantastic! Dinner at Red Marlin was tasty, too. Our biggest caveat was that we wish there were more dining options to walk to. Still, we would return. It was a great stay!

"Good hotel but can be better"

The location was good however parking may be a bit difficult. We had to park off location because it was too full. Amenities and activities around the hotel was great. The pools are heated. The only complaint would be that our room, the sofa bed was crooked, it was broken. Also it was pretty dirty. There were sands and the food crumbles on the sofa and the mattress.

I had a wonderful time with my daughter, her friends, and their moms for their 8th grade graduation trip. We went for spring break and had adjoining rooms in the tower. Caroline made sure our stay was special and had a welcome s’mores kit and a bottle of sparkling cider waiting in our room. The location of the hotel is perfect. We were able to go to so many places with no more than a 10 minute drive, some within walking distance: Point Loma, Old Town, Belmont Park…so many places to go and so many nearby, yummy places to eat. We were there for 3N/4D, but it wasn’t enough time to enjoy all the amenities. Unlike other hotels where you pay a resort fee and feel like it’s just an extra charge, you actually get so much: bottled water, kayak/paddle board rental, SunBum sunscreen (the good, expensive stuff), ping pong, shuttle service, daily activities, etc. I want to go back and actually told another group of mother-daughters that we should go there together. I’d also like to go for a family trip . Luckily it’s not too far from home to return. Thank you, Caroline, for making our stay memorable!
