"Consistently Great Service and Convenient Stay at Hilton Mission Valley"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed October 23, 2024 NEW
We recently stayed at the Hilton Hotel in Mission Valley for the third time, and once again, the experience was excellent. The service continues to impress, with clean and spacious rooms that make for a very comfortable stay. One of the most convenient features is the ability to have packages delivered directly to the hotel, which makes things much easier when traveling. Karen at the front desk was especially helpful during check-in. She welcomed us warmly and even offered bottled water, adding a nice personal touch to our arrival. Later in the evening, when we requested more water, the night staff seemed a bit hesitant, but ultimately provided us with what we needed. The overall service was great. I will definitely return to this hotel again in the future.

"A Stay to Forget: My Unpleasant Hotel Experience"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5
Reviewed October 05, 2024
Experience - I would rate my overall experience a 1 out of 10. The only positive aspect of the hotel was its location. The building appears to be quite old, and the management has not addressed the poor room conditions. The lobby and the hallway leading to the rooms were dimly lit and felt somewhat unwelcoming. We had to switch rooms three times: the first room was very stuffy, the second had a malfunctioning air conditioner, making it unbearably hot, and by the time we moved to the third room, we were too exhausted to consider changing hotels. We struggled to get through the night. It was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had, comparable to staying in a motel. Room - The room was acceptable, but the air conditioning unit still had cooling issues, making it hot and difficult to sleep due to poor ventilation. There were stains on the sofa, night lamps, and ironing board, and part of the wall had peeling paint. The AC unit was very old, with several vents stuck. Bathroom - This stay was an absolute nightmare. The mirrors were broken, there was no bathroom fan for ventilation, and the water sprinkler was completely rusted and appeared non-functional. The bathtub had peeling paint everywhere, and the water flow from the shower was extremely slow. Parking - When booking the hotel room directly through the Hilton app, there was an option to purchase parking. I assumed this was only for covered parking and that regular open parking would be free. However, I was surprised to be charged an additional $37. This fee is outrageous considering the overall poor experience I had at this hotel. Customer care -I contacted customer care to explain my experience and situation, but they were indifferent and unwilling to offer alternatives, such as booking at another Hilton hotel. Instead, they asked us to vacate before the check-out time. This was the breaking point for me. This was the worst hotel and management I’ve ever encountered! I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay here. If location is important to you, there are plenty of other options nearby. Please see attached photos.

"Hotel Cancelled without prior notice on a busy college move in weekend"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5
Reviewed August 25, 2024
After a long day of driving 9 hours and moving my daughter into college. Upon arrival I was advised my stay had been cancelled without any prior notification. I chose to pay for room at arrival but they claimed they tried to have it paid with the card in hand before I arrived. They claimed to be overbooked and gave my room away. They never called. I even had a confirmation email the day before confirming my booking: I was alone and I had to find a last minute hotel on a busy SDSU weekend. I have never had issues with the hotels when I choose to pay upon arrival. Worse hotel ever! Don’t book here! They just don’t care. Mgmt told me two other people had they reservations cancelled to make rooms available for those already there!

"Gross - Avoid at all costs"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5

I travel frequently and was able to use Hilton Honors points for part of my stay. This hotel has made me question being a Hilton Honors member at all. Although the app allows you to select a room, that room was not ready at 4PM check-in so we were assigned a different room, which was filthy. There was a wadded-up dirty Kleenex on the floor, hair and brown marks on the sheets and hair all over the bathroom. I washed my hands and the sink would not drain. It was a shabby, beat-up room and they should be embarrassed to charge $300. We spoke to the front desk and were given a different room on a higher floor. That room had clean sheets, only one working outlet and an updated bathroom which was also full of hair. I saw housekeeping several times during our stay and never once heard or saw a vacuum cleaner. The location is not great. The bed and pillows were ok and I was not disturbed by noise. However, I would not recommend this motel to anyone and suggest that Hilton reconsider allowing their name on this dive.

"Filthy experience"

Upon check-in I was surprised how far the entrance was from handicap parking. After getting to my room I found condoms and dirty clothing in the dresser. The mirrors were dirty and there was hair etc in the bed. The room appeared as though there was a party and housekeeping simply made the bed after. After notifying the front desk housekeeping came and inspected the room then approximately 30 min later gave me another room. Although the new room appeared clean, the couch had a large wet spot rendering it unusable. The hallways were quite dirty and outside the elevator was a bench which was filthy to inclued spilled food which remained uncleaned for two days. For breakfast I ordered biscuits and gravy whereas the gravy contained corn, carrots, parsley etc which seemed more like corn chowder than gravy and very thin. My waiter advised me that numerous people complained about it but the sous chef insisted this is how country gravy is made. I don't recommend staying or eating here it is very filthy and staff obviously don't care.
