Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad Beach in Carlsbad, CA

First, the hotel is in a great location. Directly across from the ocean. Overall, clean and decent. It met our needs....but was not what i was expecting. This was a long weekend for our Anniversary and celebrating a birthday. The rooms are slightly dated; but the hotel was very clean and neat. So this was something we could overlook. The GOOD: The staff incredibly friendly....and helpful. Everyone was super nice and that always makes a difference. Alison was great for the upgrade and Jay for assisting with our room issues. Food was good.... the Sriracha wings and omelets were really great. Upon arrival was advised that I was given a courtesy oceanview upgrade ( next category up)..... fantastic, all par for HH Diamond perks. THE NOT SO GOOD: Im only giving the hotel a 3 star because.... while the rooms are dated and I was expecting something a little nicer, it was a decent hotel. My issue was we had an issue with our room, that persisted the entire time...YES, these things happen... but I wasn't happy about it. Which made me acknowledge that the oceanview wasn't really what I would call an oceanview..... because it was fully obstructed. All fine, as it was probably better that the pool view (not a major issue...effort appreciated). I asked for a late check-out and was told that they were fully committed so they could only offer 1230pm. All fine..... but it was not true... they were not fully committed or even close to it. So at the end of the day... that fib negated everything that I overlooked. Which led me to believe that my partial HH Diamond rewards booking was an issue. I truly hope that wasn't the case because I really felt that everyone was being really nice and accommodating. Very disappointing if this was the case. In comparison.... we checked into another brand not far away, better location....similar amenities and updated. Was welcomed at 1230pm with a full oceanview room, a gift bag with a bottle of wine.... and a thank you for choosing them and being a Gold member. This was an 100% rewards stay. The room and view at this brand was exceptional. I spend over 100 nights a year in hotels....and generally don't comment or give reviews.... unless there is a standout reason. This trip was the tale of two hotels.

Very good place to stay. Clean, organized, close to the beach and beautiful landscapes. Good customer service. I loved this place and the views around that i ended up extended my stay here.

Everything was great, Our whole stay was great. Location was perfect right in front of the Beach, the only negative part of our trip was the Weather. It rained almost every day we were there other than that everything was Awesome!!

The hotel is very nice and bright, super close the the waterfront, you can see people surfing and so many birds as well. The Manager Andrew, and Corey were great to deal with, super helpful and professional. We had a great and enjoyable experience during our stay :)
