The staff at Hampton Inn were friendly and accommodating, demand darkening curtains were a benefit to keeping the room dark. Bed was extremely comfortable, and the breakfast was amazing! Hot coffee, hot chocolate, and tea were available throughout the day.

"Clean hotel, walking distance to historic downtown"

Clean, updated hotel in pretty easy walking distance of the Castillo and historic district (20+ minutes). Parking in that area is tough, so I understand why they charge you $20/day, however they should just build it into the room pricing and advertise it as free parking with placard placed in windshield. Breakfast was sufficient and I really liked the 24/hour availability of coffee/tea/ water. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Stay 2 nights so you'll have plenty of time to explore the area and excellent restaurants. One item knocked this down to 4 stars: The shower floor made a large creaking sound when you stand on it. I've never encountered that before in a hotel or a home!

"Dark Room, Lousy Breakfast, Other Issues"

This hotel is a mixed bag. It has a convenient location. The personnel at the hotel are personable and helpful. However, there are some serious deficiencies. First, the room lighting is very dim. It's very hard to get enough light in the room to do much of anything. Second, the breakfast is a total waste. Very limited offerings. Many of the foods offered are niche offerings that many people may not like - chicken sausage, smoked pork sausage, egg white frittatas, fresh fruit that has seen better days, flavored waffles. Many of these would be ok if offered with other items but that is not usually the case. Waffles do not cook long enough. No biscuits and gravy, no sweet rolls. Coffee urns were not refilled on a timely basis. Late in the day coffee was stale. Third, parking was an issue. They charge $20 per day, but there is nothing to stop a non-guest from parking there. There did not appear to be any monitoring of the parking. One night of our stay, guests were parking on the street. We parked at an electric charging station even though we don't have an electric car. It would not be difficult to place a gate to the lot. If you call from outside the Inn, you will likely not get an answer. We were put on hold a couple of times and waited 20 minutes before giving up. They do answer promptly when the call is from a room.

"Not a Great Hampton Inn Compared to Others"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5

I’ve stayed at many hotels, and unfortunately this was my least positive experience. I wasn’t able to adjust the thermostat to keep the fan running, which I rely on for sleep, and this is the first hotel where that hasn’t been possible. The shower creaked loudly and felt uneven, almost as if it were coming apart. The bathroom fan didn't work. Throughout the night, the mini fridge made intermittent whining noises that repeatedly woke us up. Additionally, the cabinet next to the fridge scraped against the wall when opened, causing visible damage to both surfaces - a design issue that really stood out.

"Great Holiday Stay!"

We stayed four nights around Christmas and found this hotel and staff to be outstanding. The check in employee, Catherine, followed up two separate times via text to ensure our stay was going well. The breakfast staff members were top notch at their jobs. They were Tatyana and Dante. Specifically, they were kind and kept warm food and drinks flowing during an extremely busy season. The room was cleaned well each day and I recall staff members genuinely saying hello and good morning each day. I frequently stay at Hampton Inns and this one did not disappoint.
