"Not the Hampton Inn I've Come to Expect"

Hampton Inns have always been my go to for family travel because, as I've told my friends, you always know the quality and what you get with Hampton Inn. That belief ended this trip. This Hampton Inn seems to be running on a shoe string. We arrived and found the hotel room cleanish but very used. For example the pillows should have been retired long ago. My relatively new iPad could not be connected to the hotel WIFI. After calling the front desk several times an employee showed up the following day. Trying everything I'd already tried to get it working, the hotel employee said that it was the fault of the hotel WIFI and would call tech support for help. Well I never heard from him or IT again. Once home, my iPad worked perfectly. Breakfasts were always a risk. This Hampton Inn frequently ran out of basic Hampton Inn foods. Asking staff would elicit a "we don't have any more" answer. Moreover, they often ran out of plates and cups. One morning all breakfast food had to be eaten in a bowl. The entire week I was there no black tea bags were offered; only green tea and herbal teas. And again and again the hot water wasn't hot. I'd take my tea up to my room and microwave it. Towards the end of the week we skipped breakfast & went elsewhere. The laundry room for a 10 story building had one washer and one dryer both unplugged in the middle of the room, not working, with weights from the exercise room to prop them. I never saw anyone working to fix this room. The majority of the staff were quite friendly and as helpful as possible. However, I am surprised that Hilton still allows this hotel to have the Hampton Inn logo. I can't recommend this hotel.

We always stay at the Hampton Inn every time we go away, and have found that the experience is not the same at each place. The Hampton Inn in Boston had chia pudding with fruit as a breakfast option while this one kept running out of basics like eggs, bacon, coffee, and hot water, and had very limited options all around. We had to ask several times if they were going to be bringing more of this and that. The staff was very nice, but the breakfast situation was a bit disappointing. It was also very crowded and we ended up taking our food back to our room for 2 out of the 3 days we were there. Our room was clean, but we were missing the remote control for the TV, and the bathroom had rust around the drain in the tub and on the floor by the sink. That made it feel not as clean as it probably was. They should stay on top of that. The rooms are expensive and there should be nothing rusty in the bathrooms. I wouldn’t have wanted to use the bathtub just because of that.

Simere and Michael ( were the pillar of customer service) : when it comes to feeling at home away from home. They had a way of talking about Philly to welcome you and make you feel safe as a solo traveler I appreciate them. DeAndre (front desk)made check out and holding bags easy and convenient to explore the city last day without luggage. The hotel was very convenient and staff from housekeeping accommodate privacy yet replenish what you need. A.M. breakfast was very good and the attendants were especially hard working and kind. This stay was above and beyond!
