If you want a first class, relaxing, and perfect 52-acre resort experience on Kauai, this is the place for you. The location, layout, and focus on the ocean will leave you breathless. And above that, the rooms, food and staff will compliment the experience.

"Not a 5 Star Resort - Outdated Rooms"
TripAdvisor user rating 3.0 out of 5

For the price I was charged, I was expecting a wonderful stay. I found a cockroach in my room. Also, for a 5 star hotel, the rooms were incredibly outdated and dusty and did not feel clean. This resort is def not a 5 star resort bc of how outdated the rooms are. The pools, the view, the lobby and gardening are amazing, yes, but staying in the room was unpleasant and it smelled old and musty. I never splurge like this and am very disappointed in my stay and feel like I wasted my money. This was a gift for my mom who's never stayed at a 5 star resort and I was so disapointed.

"This resort needs a vacation!"
TripAdvisor user rating 3.0 out of 5

We’ve stayed at this resort three times over the past 30 years, and it holds a lot of great memories for us. That’s why it’s disappointing to say that this most recent visit didn’t quite live up to what we remembered. The resort feels like it’s in need of a little care — a refresh or light renovation could go a long way in bringing back the charm it once had. Things just felt a bit worn, like the property itself could use a vacation. Tidepools, in particular, was a letdown. While the setting is still beautiful, the quality and portion size of the food didn’t match expectations, especially for a signature restaurant. We truly hope to see this place restored to its former excellence. With some updates and attention to detail, it could be the five-star experience it once was.

"Almost 5 star!"

This was going to be a 5 star review, but! This is a beautiful, luxury resort, but it is very expensive, so I would expect it to be. We enjoyed our stay, but there are two items that just didn't meet my expectations. First, the rooms aren't the cleanest for this level of resort. Second, we have 8:30 pm flights and asked for a late checkout. I am a Hyatt member, this is our second visit, and no way is the resort super full/busy. I asked at check-in, and was told it shouldn't be a problem, but to check back the night before. Well, for some reason, it now is a problem, and we couldn't have a later checkout. I would expect them to do this for a Hyatt member, especially when the resort isn't busy. We did not do the luau, since we have attended one in the past. We did not use the spa. Not our thing. The pool was beautiful and clean. The service pool side was great. We had no problem getting lounges. There were many empty ones. There was also a 'beach' area, that provided loungers in the sand, and a swim area that was an ocean salt 'pool'. The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. The breakfast buffet was good, but we found the one at the Fairmont in Maui to be better. There are many stores and restaurants close by. We had a car, so we enjoyed visiting several places on the island. Kauai is beautiful.
