"Four Seasons Maui - a let down"

The service is the worse I’ve gotten in any Fours Seasons I have visited. You see yourself always dealing with problems, start to finish. Definitely, it is not what you want after traveling for 11 hours to get there. The check-in took forever when we arrived, next day a warning about us not having a credit card associated with the room (we did it the night before), the extra bed always not ready when we came back after dinner, paid for a full frigobar and it was empty e go on and on. Mistake after mistake that turned the experience in something very frustrating.

This may be fine for an unsophisticated traveler on points with a bunch of kids, but if you actually want peace, quiet and luxury …. Look elsewhere. It’s cramped, it’s loud, it’s like being on a Disney Cruise where kids are everywhere. No, you will not get a seat at the adult pool because it’s roped off with a wait time… yup, exactly what you want to do on vacation. Be in line for a pool. Beach has cheap chairs and there will be a local laying on their towel at your feet. No beach service and no food options past 2pm because, well… random people walking bought all the food already. We were supposed to stay 5 nights, we left after 2 and went to a different island, paid more and changed all flights (also more $$) just to not spoil our time completely. Avoid avoid avoid.

"Avoid if looking for luxury or peace"

This place is not luxury. The room rates are ludicrous for what you get, yet people continue to pay. I’m writing this review for those of you who want a luxury peaceful vacation (if so, look elsewhere) and don’t care about White Lotus. First off, the design of the hotel is just completely wrong. The configuration minimizes the ocean view of each room. The only way to get an “ocean FRONT” room is to buy a $5K per night suite. My “deluxe ocean view” room overlooks the vehicular drop off, with the ocean in the distance. A simple chatGPT analysis says that a 383 unit hotel should have 11,000 square feet of pool area based on luxury hotel comparables. The total pools here are only 7,000 square feet. They built half the amount of pool space they should. As you can imagine, there is a 6 hour wait for a pool chair. The adult pool had a 28 person waitlist, and the family pool was full and had screaming children. At the beach, there was no beach attendant around to set up a chair for us, and all of the chairs were occupied or covered in soiled towels. When we finally got a chair, we noticed the dirty soiled chairs around us were never cleaned up for the 45 minutes we sat there. With nowhere to sit, we decided we wanted to go for a swim in the adult pool to enjoy the infinity edge. NOPE. They blocked off the edge with a rope because there was a wedding downstairs. I find it unfair that they would comprise the hotel guest experience in favor of a wedding downstairs. The pool water was murky and had a layer of film of sunscreen floating around. On second thought, we thought it looked too gross to go in. There were also dozens of people in the small pool. The hotel needs a serious refresh. The corridors to the rooms are dingy and gross. A common theme across all four seasons in the United States, is old outdated bathrooms, this is no exception. The hard product was old, outdated and scratched up. The soft product felt like Disney world or a zoo with hundreds of people everywhere you look. I stayed here in 2019 and the pool was a disaster back then (due to the wait at the FS adult pool, I spent the day at the Andaz, and my next Maui trip was booked at the Andaz). Four Seasons has stooped to a new low with the current state of the Wailea resort. It seems they aren’t having issues making money though, so why would they bother renovating? My boyfriend and I were considering booking a trip to the Four Seasons Lanai but this experience has permanently tainted the brand name for us and we will be taking at least a few years off from the brand. We checked out within a few hours of checking in here. If you care about luxury, look elsewhere.

"Unmatched luxury in paradise!!"

My family of three have recently returned from an immensely enjoyable 5 nite stay at this resort. We were celebrating our babymoon and this was our first time staying at the Four Seasons brand but have stayed at other 5 star locations around the world in the past such the Maldives and Turks and Caicos. Both have been very enjoyable stays as well but doesn’t quite compare to the level of luxury and hospitality we experienced at the Four Seasons Wailea. The service here is truly unmatched. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with leis and felt totally spoiled during our entire stay. Big shout out to Jery at Duo, John at bellhop, and Annabel from house keeping for being so accommodating and showing us that true aloha spirit!! This resort was where Season 1 of the White Lotus was filmed and admittedly was one of the reasons why I wanted to stay here. It was so awesome walking the resort grounds and reliving all the memorable scenes from that show. As gorgeous as the property looked on television, it was even more impressive to witness in person. The main walkway heading down to the pool area had the most amazing view, especially during sunset. Moreover, the view from the adult infinity pool overlooking Wailea beach was also gorgeous and unmatched! All in all, in a stretch of Wailea lined with luxury resorts, The Four Seasons Maui at Wailea truly sets the standard and themselves apart from the rest by being the epitome of luxury, attention to detail, and world class service. It’s no surprise I witnessed so many people and families who choose to come back here every year. I myself am looking forward to the day my family and I get to return to this resort which holds a very special place in our hearts!!

"Still (nearly) perfect!"

This was our 18th stay at the FS Maui, and we still find it to be nearly perfect. There are minor issues (service by the pool being VERY spotty), but overall still paradise on earth. Our room was great, the moving of the spa upstairs was seamless, and the overall service impeccable. We also rented a car through SIXT at the hotel, and that was a great experience. Since we were only there ten days, the option of the car rental was a definite advantage for us. Love the FS Maui and will be back soon!
