"Super modern, great staff and rooms. Fantastic value for money"

Having just stayed in 12 luxury hotels (Bel Air, Peninsula Beverly Hills, Four Seasons Palm beach, Faena Miami beach, Waldorf Astoria Park city, W Aspen, St. Regis San Francisco, Waldorf Astoria Vegas, etc) around the USA, I have a fresh feel to review these hotels with great comparisons. This hotel is a true dime. Having slept at Fairmont Dallas and having a terrible experience there, Inwas more than hesitant to visit this hotel right after, as in their category this is nit any higher. However, my expectations could not have been any more false. The hotel is stunning. The design is impeccable. Every detail looks like a brand new hotel in Dubai, marble, gold, shining, just extremely beutifully designed. Also the staff was great. The front desk was extremely friendly, as were the staff at the rooftop restaurant. The room itself was also great. As modern as the rest of the hotel, great bed, great ac, large bathroom, great quality towels etc. The welcome amenity was also very impressive. Unfortunately we did not have time to see their pool or gym, or test the breakfast. All in all, this hotel offers extremely good value for money and would definitely come back.

"Fantastic Service at a Cool, Restored Hotel Property"

We had a really great experience at the Fairmont Breakers this past weekend. The restoration of the building is well done, and the property has a great feel. The hotel is doing a fantastic job from a service standpoint. The restaurants and bars are bustling with guests, and everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. You can tell the hotel is well managed and has a professional and caring team. We met Dave, the building engineer, as he was touching up paint on an adjacent guest room door. He went out of his way to introduce himself and make sure we were having a good stay - displaying quality customer service. The fact that the hotel is touching up paint after only being open for a year speaks to the care taken to ensure it stays well maintained. The front desk team, food and beverage team, and housekeeping team all provided great service. We needed an extra chair in our room one day, and the team came through wit the request at the exact time as promised. The servers at Nettuno were super friendly and helped to suggest things to do around Los Angeles. Andre, the GM, regularly greets guests in the lobby and ensures that they are having a good stay. Air conditioning and blackout shades both worked well in the room. Room was clean and very nicely done. I was concerned about noise issues prior to our stay after reading other reviews. The rooms could be quieter, as hall noise does make its way into the room, but I've experienced much worse at other hotels. The renovation also looks to have added a second tier of windows to better insulate noise from the street, and it works relatively well. All in all, the noise issues weren't a major disruption to our sleep. I'm someone who will avoid returning to a hotel with poor soundproofing, and I would for sure return to this hotel. Thank you to the team for a great stay!

"Started bad, ended good."

The hotel experience did not start well. The young lady at the front desk was a bit cold when my wife and I checked in and did not display the culture we are accustomed to at Fairmonts. When we arrived at our room, it was extremely small, smelled musty, and the A/C didn't work. We called down to the front desk to see if we could change rooms or have the A/C repaired. That's when George, a hotel employee (manager), came to our rescue. He suggested we change rooms, although they only had double-bed rooms remaining. We checked in around 9 pm and hadn't eaten, so we wanted room service. George insisted on covering our meal, and he sent up two glasses of wine with it. George was fantastic and made what looked like it was going to be a bad stay into a pleasant one-night stay. Overall, the hotel is nice with modern decor. You can tell they are still working through some opening pangs. The next morning, the staff at the front desk and at the lobby restaurant were very kind and polite.

"Royal Services in Name Only — A Major Disappointment at the Fairmont Breakers, Long Beach"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5
Reviewed October 29, 2025 NEW
We were greatly disappointed to learn that the Fairmont Breakers in Long Beach relies on a centralized “Call Centre” under the title of Royal Services — when, in reality, there appeared to be nothing “royal” about the services provided. Despite the room phones clearly including buttons for Front Desk, Concierge, and Housekeeping, none of those departments seemed reachable or responsive. During our short stay, we made three very simple requests: A bucket of ice Dinner items from room service A bellhop to assist with four suitcases ahead of our airport departure Each request required not just one call — but two further calls— in order for the service to actually be delivered. The communication breakdown between Royal Services and hotel staff was unacceptable, inefficient, and reflected poorly on the brand. We required a wheelchair-accessible room and were upgraded to Room 316. The room itself was nicely renovated, but extremely noisy. We heard every person walking to the elevators or the pool, and on our final night, loud partying in the hallway made it nearly impossible to sleep. At that point, after so many service failures, we didn’t bother calling for assistance — because we had completely lost confidence that anyone would answer or help. Despite the Fairmont’s beautiful and extensive interior renovations, its most fundamental promise remains unfulfilled: attentive guest service. When a luxury hotel cannot reliably deliver the basics — a timely response to essential requests — the experience becomes frustrating, stressful, and profoundly disappointing. A hotel of this caliber should not only look exceptional, but feel exceptional through thoughtful, responsive service. Sadly, that was not our experience at the Fairmont Breakers, Long Beach.
