"Do not book here - HORRIBLE !!!"

Stayed four nights — no cleaning service at all, and the front desk ignored our requests. The room had lots of bugs; we ended up with rashes and bites. Very poor hygiene. They also charged a resort fee without offering any real service. Totally disappointing. Avoid this place unless you don’t care about your health.

"Dirty, over-priced, and disappointing"

While my reservation was at the Catalina, my room was actually in the Maxine’s hotel next door. I am only giving a one-star rating because I cannot select zero. The common space in the hotel (stairway, halls) was extremely dirty as was the room. The low point in my visit was my last morning when I was confronted with a cockroach in my room. The air conditioning unit in my room was so loud that I had to choose between sweating and not sleeping. And the towels were very old and had holes. To top it off, the price was exorbitant for the quality of the hotel. The only redeeming quality was the location. Unless the hotel goes through a major renovation, I would caution anyone from staying.

"DO NOT BOOK HERE — RUDE STAFF, ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY, ABSOLUTE DISASTER"

We booked a day room at The Catalina Hotel via Dayuse (a legitimate third-party platform that offers day-rate hotel bookings). Our reservation was confirmed for 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. We arrived at the property at exactly 1:00 PM, only to be told by the front desk that no rooms were ready. The woman at the front desk looked visibly confused when we showed her our *confirmed reservation* — she had no clue what was going on and had to repeatedly ask her manager for clarification. Instead of being offered any solution, she told us to leave our bags in the storage room and come back later. We did just that, assuming they’d get things sorted in the meantime. From 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM, we called the hotel three times. Not once did anyone pick up the phone. We finally returned to the hotel at 5:40 PM — hoping to at least get one hour to freshen up and shower before our evening flight. Instead, we were met with dismissiveness and rudeness. The manager — who had been aware of our situation the entire day and yet said nothing earlier while standing at the reception — claimed our reservation “did not exist” and refused to help in any way. Even when we offered to pay out of pocket for a day-rate room just to shower and change, we were denied. No help. No accountability. No professionalism. Just blatant disregard. This was, hands down, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I didn’t expect luxury, especially considering the hotel's already poor reputation, but I expected basic decency. For a property that partners with Dayuse, this level of unpreparedness and sheer incompetence is unacceptable. Avoid this hotel at all costs. There are better options in South Beach where the staff actually acknowledges reservations, answers phones, and treats guests with a minimum level of respect.

This was the worst hotel ever. My daughter takes me away every mothers day to different places. We were here from 5/9/25 thru 5/13/25. First we were in the hotel connected and the room was horrible, dirty sheets, phone didn't work to ask for assistance. Doing construction on our floor the key cards never opened the door went to get assistance the guy came with an attitude. I waited for the next morning shift change and spoke to a lady named Joanna she felt bad for what we experienced the 1st night. She moved us to the Catalina we thought this was a little better sheets were still dirty with stains and the key cards gave us trouble again, the phone in this room didn't work either. I would NEVER EVER stay here again. We go away so much and have never experienced anything like it. Over all the only pleasant thing about our stay was Joanna shout out to her. This hotel needs to close down immediately
