"Not Recommended: Overwhelming Mold Smell"

We were very excited to stay at this hotel, but unfortunately our experience was concerning enough that we could not stay. Upon arrival, there was confusion regarding parking, as our third-party booking indicated it was included. The staff did ultimately honor this once we showed proof, which we appreciated. We were also offered a beverage on arrival, which was a nice touch. We were informed that the rooftop area was unavailable due to recent heavy rain and furniture not yet being put back. This was disappointing, as the rooftop was a major reason we chose this property. When we entered our suite (Room 204), there was an OVERWHELMING MOLD SMELL. It was immediately noticeable and made us feel unsafe staying in the room. We asked a staff member to come to the room, and they confirmed the odor themselves. Unfortunately, the hotel was fully booked and unable to move us to another room, so we had to find accommodations elsewhere. We were offered a refund. The front desk staff handled the situation professionally, was responsive and apologetic, and did what they could in the moment. However, the mold issue is a serious problem, and future guests should be aware when booking

This boutique hotel is awesome. So happy we learned about it. Heard it was newly renovated-beautiful rooms. Very accommodating staff. View of ocean from room 208. Rates are very reasonable.

Cardiff by the Sea Lodge is the only place I stay when I visit my kid who lives there. I love the prosecco greeting upon arrival, the beautiful, well appointed rooms, the lovely breakfast of muffins and juices and the friendly service! From the hotel I can literally walk everywhere!
