Located next to the Pacific Ocean, Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach, a Hilton Resort & Spa, features an outdoor pool and an elevated spa area, an on-site bar, and a restaurant. All the spacious rooms offer WiFi, a 50-inch HDTV with extended channels, an iPod docking station, a microwave, and a refrigerator. A comfortable desk and seating area are also featured in all rooms at the hotel. Select rooms offer balconies or patios with ocean views.

Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Chandler’s Restaurant & Lounge is located on-site and offers a menu inspired by locally grown fresh products and features signature cocktails. For convenience, an on-site fitness center and a business center with fax and photocopying services are available at the hotel.

LEGOLAND and Carlsbad Premium Outlets are within five miles of the resort and conveniently accessed by the shuttle service. The San Diego Zoo and the San Diego International Airport are less than a 40-minute drive away.

The photo of the property is cleverly taken to give the impression that the hotel is practically on the beach; actually, to get to the beach, you need to cross a busy highway and do a 10- 15 minute walk. The hotel is about 10-15 minutes to Carlsbad; even though the hotel provides a shuttle service, walking to restaurants and shops in not an option. We were extremely disappointed about the misleading photos and "oceanfront" views, which by the way, includes parked house trailers - along with the highway - not a pretty sight. Last, the oceanfront view rooms overlook the noisy pool area and bar/restaurant - forcing us to keep our balcony doors shut. We will not be back.

We stayed a few nights at Cape Rey and loved it! The staff was friendly and very accommodating especially the evening receptionist. It was awesome to be a short walk to the beach and within driving distance of so many restaurants and activities! The hot tub was full each time we tried to use it so an adult only or adult specific time for the hot tub would be nice! We ate at the restaurant and the food was great!

Beautiful property and great amenities but we did experience several problems that should be made known. 1. The A/C in our room did not work at all. There was confusion on this as maintenance told us they had rigged it to work but front desk told us it did not work. Point being the first night was very uncomfortable as room was extremely hot. Not very nice. 2. Saturday morning we went to have breakfast at Chandlers around 10am. The hostess was a little disagreeable when we asked if we could sit at a nicer table. I also noticed the look she gave another couple at the hostess stand. Maybe she was having a bad day but no reason for an attitude. 3. It took an hour for us to get waited on at breakfast and when my coffee finally arrived it was barely warm. 4. Spa should have a male attendant so female does not need to constantly enter the men's locker room. This happened twice while I was there. For the prices charged I was expecting something better. I understand not everything always goes perfectly smooth but these are matters management should be aware of so they can be remedied. I love Hilton properties which is why this situation surprised me.
