Best Western Ocean Sands Resort Hotel in North Myrtle Beach, SC

Hotel is great this is our second year staying here and plan to stay again next year. Everyone at the front desk has been great and the cleaning ladies always make sure we have what we need. Shelly at the tiki bar is always amazing with a smile on her face. She even recognize us from last year!!

I’m not usually one to write reviews, but after what my 4-year-old daughter and I experienced at Best Western Ocean Sands in Myrtle Beach, I feel compelled to share our experience. What we encountered was far below the cleanliness, safety, and hospitality standards that were advertised or expected from a major hotel brand. Upon check-in, the first room we were assigned had heavily stained carpet and what appeared to be pest debris. I immediately asked to be moved. The second room, unfortunately, raised even more concerns. In our short time there (we left within 13 hours), we observed the following: Curtains with what looked like visible mold or soot stains Rusted outlets and chipped paint inside the room A visibly stained toilet base and grime around bathroom fixtures Worn-out carpet and dirty baseboards that appeared not to have been thoroughly cleaned in some time As a parent traveling with a young child, I felt increasingly uncomfortable staying in an environment that felt unclean and potentially unsafe. The advertised “hot breakfast” also didn’t meet expectations. I observed staff heating food in plastic bowls using the microwave, which left me questioning food safety protocols. Additionally, the posted elevator inspection permit was last dated 2022, which gave me pause regarding up-to-date safety compliance. After expressing my concerns and sharing photos with the hotel, a partial refund was issued. However, given the short length of our stay and the overall conditions, I felt a full refund would have been appropriate. Unfortunately, this request was denied. While every traveler’s experience may differ, I personally cannot recommend this property based on what I encountered. I hope this review helps others make informed decisions, and I sincerely hope the hotel addresses these concerns moving forward. Such a sad start to our vacation.

Shelley and Kirsten are awesome! They make the best drinks and are so friendly. Service is quick and the conversation is always great! The watermelon margarita is amazing!

My overall experience was great the hospitality was superb, customer service was A1, the atmosphere was overall very friendly and top notch the drinks were very appealing and priced fairly also the cleanliness was overall great and hospitalable

The amenities are outstanding. Including the staff at the tiki hut. Shelley was great. Very friendly, mixed a top shelf refreshing frozen drink.
