"Mixed bag over holiday season"

Our stay at the Andaz Maui was mixed. Location was beautiful and we loved the beach access and the breakfast spread, but for such an expensive property (even on points), I expected a more welcoming and comfortable stay. We were there between Christmas and New Years, which is peak season, and the hotel was at maximum capacity. The property didn't seem equipped to deal with the influx of people, and it made for a less welcoming experience. Cons: * For starters, there was a long wait at check in, and the staff checking us in seemed less friendly and welcoming than annoyed. As a Globalist we were given fewer perks than at comparable hotels, like limited breakfast covering 3 of our 4 family members. We were given 15% off property meals, which was nice, but we had to remember to bring a card with us to show the server, rather than it being automatically applied to our bill against our room number. For such an expensive property, it all felt very unwelcoming and transactional. * There's one hot tub, and during the holiday season, it served as a de facto kiddie pool, with a bunch of toddlers splashing around. Not the chill hot tub experience we were looking for. Pool chairs were often occupied making it hard to find space. * Breakfast had very long wait times, unless you got there in the very early AM. * Standard 2 queen room was quite small for 4 people (2 adults, 2 teens) and bathroom was oddly configured Pros: * Beach access. That’s what sold us on the property. We loved having swimmable beach, snorkeling and outrigger canoeing right from the property. * Adults pool was tranquil but had no view. * Breakfast spread was delicious and high quality, despite the long wait and the limited Globalist access for our family. * Beds were comfy. We had a nice lanai with a grassy lawn (no ocean view) On balance, I’d stay again because of the location, but not during peak season. I chose the Andaz over the bigger and less expensive Hyatt Regency Maui, as I thought it would be quieter and better for teens, but I think the latter may have been able to absorb the crowds better.

"Highly Recommend Andaz Wailea Resort!"

My husband and I just returned from a phenomenal stay at the Andaz Wailea Resort in Maui, and we are already planning our next trip back. This is a beautiful, boutique-style hotel—a refreshing change of pace from some of the massive resorts nearby. We stayed in an ocean view suite, which was incredibly spacious, beautifully designed, and offered a truly stunning view of the water. The customer service across the entire resort was faultless. Every single member of staff we encountered was friendly, helpful, and genuinely seemed happy to make our stay perfect. The dining options were a highlight. The breakfast buffet was huge, offering a fantastic variety of high-quality choices every morning. We also had a memorable dinner at Morimoto on the property, which was absolutely delicious. For relaxation, we rented a pool cabana one day and received excellent, attentive poolside service. We also visited the spa, which was beautiful and had very friendly staff. Everything at the Andaz Wailea was top-notch. I honestly do not have a single complaint. If you are looking for a luxurious, intimate, and friendly place to stay in Wailea, this is the spot. Highly recommended!

"Mediocre Experience"

After doing much research, we decided on the Andaz for our stay in Maui. In my opinion, this resort should not be labeled as luxury. The bathroom is really a strange configuration only having 1 small mirror over a very long vanity. Finding a pool chair was a nightmare while we were there. We ended up paying $450 + tax for a cabana so we could sit and see the ocean. Included in this price was chilled water. There is an uncrowded adult pool, but it is tucked away in a courtyard with a view of buildings. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the employees and the location. The price of staying here is way too high for the experience. Would not return.

Andaz Maui is a special hotel, and they strike the right balance between luxury and relaxed vibe. It’s gorgeous without being stuffy (like in our opinion the neighboring Four Seasons…). The breakfast buffet is really good and direct beach access to fantastic snorkeling set this place apart. We stayed 6 nights this year, 6 nights last, and will keep coming back. That said, this is solidly a 4.5* hotel, not 5. The service is friendly and good but just not up to par with 5 star resorts where valet is helpful, front desk is always inviting/friendly, housekeeping is thorough. It is all fine and good but that’s just not what you’re going to get if you’re used to and expect 5 star pampering and perfection. They might get your breakfast order wrong, forget to throw out some cups in your room and place your items with odd judgment, the bird poop might be left on your lanai, valet might be frustratingly slow/a bit clueless etc. These are all minor annoyances at the end of the day, and we will come back many times in then future. The only serious criticism I have is the beach activities area. Keanu was so friendly and was an incredible guide for stand up paddle boarding. Some of these other guys are just hanging out and seem like they could care less. I know these are free activities but this is still a top tier resort, when a great guide can make all the difference between an amazing time and a waste of time. Need more folks like Keanu. Shoutout to Wonmi at the front desk for going above and beyond in taking care of us! Breakfast service at Ka’ana was also always an delight and made every morning feel special!
