Smoky Mountains

Stretching across the North Carolina-Tennessee border, the Great Smoky Mountains or “Smokies” is best known for housing the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Encompassing some of the highest peaks in the Eastern United States, the Smoky Mountains region is a subrange of the Appalachian Mountains as well as a segment of the Blue Ridge Physiographic Province. Major cities in Tennessee include Knoxville, Sevierville, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge, which are short distances away from one another. Visitors can easily travel between these gorgeous mountain towns, soaking up the natural wonders and heritage of the national park and its surrounding areas.
